For my final project, I created an album cover that was influenced by the jeli tradition of passing musical knowledge and skills down from generation to generation. I put my own twist on it and decided to have the image reflect both the jeli traditions and my own life. Growing up, football was a major part of my life, and much of what I learned about the game came from my father, who played football himself. I wanted to show the similarities between how jeli families pass down their musical traditions and how my father passed down his knowledge and love for football to me. Through the musical notes, football, and kora, I tried to bring these two different traditions together in one image. I titled the album Passed Down because I felt it truly represented the idea of knowledge, skills, and traditions being shared between generations.
